The painting "Arrival of Wintermaker' discusses the promise wintermaker made to allow the spring to return each year. The Sacred Turtle watches over this vow carefully as wintermaker come into view. The loon's song represents the bridge between this life and the spirit world. Below we find the spring flowers that will arrive soon.
About Chholing Taha
Welcome to my workshop. I am certified Indigenous artisan of Cree First Nations heritage who, for the past 40+ years, have been art-making and writing in my home studio. I am now residing within the beautiful boundaries of Minnesota with my family and pugs. As child exploring the rich northeastern woodlands of the U.S. and Canada territory during the 1940-50's is where my spirit was exposed to a rich and varied environment that influences my artwork today. The constellation inside the turtle is Orion, the constellations across the top represent the four seasonal positions of the big dipper. So happy you like the piece too!
